ALL HALLOWS’ EVE
The Untold Story
This story has never been told and was purposely left out of my dialogue in the book Revolution. My name is Seth and to know me and who I am, you must read that book.
History has dictated that All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve, is the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It begins the observance of the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.
In a sense that is true as Marcus begins the story and I finish it. All Hallows’ Eve began on Friday the 13th. Maybe that is why this honorable, celebrated tradition on October 31st went astray, supposedly by the way of superstition.
It was the early hour of the morning, the mist rising as the sun began to warm the early frost of this October day. It was Friday, October 13, 1307 to be exact. There were about two thousand men camped twenty leagues outside of Paris. I, Marcus, was their Captain.
Three thousand men of King Phillip’s army began the process of arrests as ordered by the King. Upon hearing of the arrests and the imprisonment of James of de Molay from Damien, I, Marcus, ordered to defend our position as the peaceful representations of God. We were to hold our ground as we defended our purpose in our Lord. This was an unfortunate battle between the Catholic Church and Christianity, between the power of man and the spiritual freedom of worship. This battle was to be between Satan and God.
Unfortunately, but by the grace of God, we lost. But as always, does not God have a plan we never can understand? We may truly never understand the ways and whys of our cause for Christ. But we are to obey, and in faith, we will arise again to do the work of God. For with God, all things are possible even though the impossible happened this fateful day.
I entered the battle along with my fellow Knight Templars with our swords and heads held high. With a spear in the other hand, the battle raged for hours as the sun immediately disappeared behind the darkest of clouds I had ever seen. Doom was on the horizon and by midday, under the darkness of those thick clouds, the battle was over. It was that quick, a victory that would never come. I lay dying beside my fellow Templars, my side pierced by an enemy’s spear.
My first attendant, Thierry Treborn (pronounced Tray-bon), lay at my side; a sword had sliced his neck, leaving a nasty, bloody gash. I could hear his guttural cries as his blood filled his lungs. He was drowning in his own blood. His sliced neck was not to be the cause of his death.
Damien lay dead beyond Thierry still presenting the cross, the cross never touching the ground in defeat. Damien was the messenger boy not quite eighteen years of age, the age he needed to be to become a Knight Templar. He had not yet reached his triple trinity year. His birthday was just days away. It was Damien who brought the news of our impending doom and took the honor of carrying that cross presented atop a spear.
It would be their life force, their blood, the blood that was shed by the Templars to continue God’s plan. I tried to reach out to Thierry, to be with him as he took his last breath. But I was unable to. The spear that pierced my side wedged into the ground as I tried to turn toward him. Thoughts of my unborn sons raced through my mind. The tradition of the Gautier Knight Templars would end with me. And Damien, so young, yet he put on a Templar’s white mantle, representing the vow of chastity, and fought beside us with sword in one hand and the cross of Christ in the other.
I placed my hand over my heart and began praying. With my eyes closed I hadn’t seen the flash of bright light. Instantly, I open my eyes. Through the smoke and the haze of the battlefield, I saw a man, a dark figure, bending over different bodies. At least someone was giving us our last rights as we lay dying. My blood loss was great. I faded in and out of consciousness as I prayed. The sun was now in my eyes as it hovered overhead, peeking through the smoke now and then as those dark clouds dissipated.
A black shadow overtook me, and that was the last I remembered. I was only twenty-four years of age. I was far too young to die. Thierry, my battlefield companion in life, had died for I no longer heard his gasping breaths. Together in death, we would meet again on the Other Side.
But God had different plans for both of us and even Damien. All Knights must bleed, that is our oath. Blood is the seal of our devotion. Death is our victory. Life with Christ is our reward. But all of that would have to wait.
I awoke eighteen days later, alive in Christ for I had died in humanity. I looked for Thierry and Damien but they weren’t among the stench of the dead still lying on that bloody battlefield. The birds of prey were still feasting.
I Seth, that dark figured mentioned, will tell the true story of that day and finish Marcus’s story. For I was there and watched over the battle as I anguished in the task God, my Grandfather, had given to me. I had fought alone for centuries to kill off the dark vampires Satan had created to overtake mankind. Now I must witness this massacre for Satan doesn’t fight fair. My dad shed his blood for all as the story goes. The story told how God had turned his back on His own son for humanity’s sake. So too shall these Knights shed their blood for God’s plan to continue.
King Phillip had become dark and turned his back on the Christian cause. Satan had invaded his kingdom and had turned King Phillip into a dark vampire which in turn he turned his men into an army of blood-thirsty vampires.
There would be no victory for the Christian cause this day. Darkness would wipe out the oath and devotion God had intended his Templars to glean. Darkness would extinguish the light but for only for a moment this day.
According to the Book of Deuteronomy and Leviticus, farmers would leave the edges of their fields unharvested and should not pick up that which was dropped (gleanings), and should not harvest any over-looked produce that had been forgotten when they harvested the majority of a field.
On one of the two occasions that this is stated in Leviticus, it adds that in vineyards, some grapes should not be gathered, a statement also found in Deuteronomy. The Book of Ruth tells of gleaning by the widow Ruth to provide for herself and her mother-in-law, Naomi, who was also a widow.
There was no hope, no victory against an army of vampires as God turned his back on the battlefield. But there would be one unharvested death that would not be overlooked. I watched in vain as darkness fell that late morning and the blood of Christian men began to flow. It was a feast for the blood-thirsty vampires, a harvest of humanity for Satan.
The King toasted with a blood-filled goblet mocking the communion of God for the King drank the blood of the dead. And he feasted on the ravaged bodies of the Templars as he mocked the resurrection of Christ.
I was the only light of that dreadful day. Clouds had gathered that blocked the sun. Some would call it an eclipse. It wasn’t. It grew dark quickly, almost like night, for how else can a dark vampire live during the day. But this bloody battle had to happen for God’s plan to work.
I stood there in grief as the vampires fed and gloried in their victory. Now it was God’s turn for them to be succumbed to the light which illuminated the battlefield. That light came from God through me. I was the switch that lit the darkness of that fateful day. The battlefield shone God’s glory as he returned to escort his soldiers Home.
I Seth, the son of Jesus, a vampire of light created by God, shed His light on that bloody battlefield as the clouds dissipated to reveal the sun once again. For where darkness is, light will prevail. The dark vampires burst into flames as God shed his light through me, His grandson.
Then I began my task of anointing the fallen Templars, that dark figure Marcus saw just before his death. I was that shadow that overtook his last breath as I breathed eternal life back into his body as a vampire of light to continue the work God had laid out before us.
It took eighteen days for Marcus to transform from humanity to a vampire of light, another vessel for God to work through. In God’s world of numerology, eighteen transforms, or reduces to nine which is a triple trinity of which Marcus is the second of that trinity. Michael would eventually become the third centuries later.
Marcus and I celebrated that eighteenth day on October 31, 1307. Happy Hallows’ Eve as God’s crusade to vanquish the dark vampires from this earth continues. It would be centuries more before God’s plan is brought to fruition.
So, celebrate God’s victory on Halloween for the blood of Christ shall rule the darkness, not ghosts and goblins caked in fake blood. Let it be the observance, the dedication to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed Templars.
Remember, Friday the 13th, for it is the mirrored image of the 31st. Notice too that 10-13-1307 and 10-31-1307 both reduce down to seven. Didn’t God rest on the seventh day?
Selah!
Note: I am often asked why it took 2000 years to kill off the original dark vampire. Here is the answer. Nine years on Earth is only two days on the Other Side. When you do the math, you will find that 2000 years is only, give or take, 500 days. Five hundred days is a little over sixteen months. But did you catch the distinction of nine years versus two days, 9 x 2 = 18. Here we have the triple trinity again. 1 + 8 = 9. Let’s all say it together, God works in mysterious ways.
